Prof. Manoel started his career in martial arts at the age of 6, when he started training Judo, in Belo Horizonte. At 13 he initiated his training in Jiu-Jitsu, making the swap with Judo. With his first professor, Marcos Moreira, he went from white belt to purple belt. In 2000, he moved to Rio de Janeiro, where he started training on the Nova União team, and met his second teacher, Wendell Alexander. In 2001, he moved to Portugal, where Jiu-Jitsu was very underdeveloped and there were only a few academies distributed throughout the country. During the first two years, he stayed out of Jiu-Jitsu, in order to focus on his work. In 2003, he resumed his career in Jiu-Jitsu and marked the beginning of his remarkable journey as a teacher. In 2006, Prof. Manoel inaugurated his first academy "Fight Planet" and received a black belt in the same year, from Prof. Kleber Repolho. This year, he also competed in the European Championship, where he won the bronze medal in the brown belt. In 2011, he took a huge step, when he inaugurated the Workout Academy. That same year, the team stopped representing Nova União and started competing for the professor's name, Team Manoel Neto. In 2012, Prof. Manoel returned to compete in the European Championship, where he won the bronze medal, but this time, as a black belt. In the following years, he led the team to better and better results, until he achieved the National Team Championship in 2015. In 2016, he founded the Focus Jiu-Jitsu team, which got the name derived from "focus", the characteristic he considered most important on his journey, which made him transform the small mat where he started teaching, into one of the largest and most recognized academies in Europe. After three years of Focus Jiu-Jitsu, he also led his team to become National Bi-Champion for teams.
